Contrary to what the name may imply, a Sound Bath does not include water, nor nudity! During a Sound Bath, the facilitator plays a variety of instruments while the participants lay on a yoga mat on the floor, made extra comfy with bolsters, blankets, and eye pillows. You are welcome to bring your own blanket and pillow for additional comfort! The participants let the sounds wash over them with the intention of resting and feeling the literal vibrations from the instruments move through their bodies. People often experience deep relaxation, some find it very meditative, and some may feel sensations in their bodies (like tingling in the hands) or have a cool visual experience with their eyes closed. And some people may sit there and be distracted by their thoughts the whole time! Each experience is unique and all are welcome.
Rising, the owner of Guided Heart Wellness, experienced her first sound bath in 2015 when her local yoga studio brought in a gong bath facilitator. It was love at first sound! She has been intrigued by sound baths ever since and tries to attend as many as possible. In 2023, Rising came to own two gongs and has since acquired a host of other instruments, including ceramic singing bowls from a wonderful potter in Asheville, beautiful Koshi chimes, a Svaram tublaphone (a what?! - come see for yourself!), a wave drum, and a handpan...so far.
Rising is a firm believer in the power of rest and is passionate about sharing the sound bath experience with others. For this reason, she is hosting a donation-based community sound bath at The Haven of Ellijay so folks can attend without a cost barrier. Come check it out!
